why is it that things are never the way they seem? is life supposed to be comparable to some optical illusion, where we are constantly struggling to figure out whether what is clearly presented in front of us is a reality or merely a hallucination? .....or is it just me? *sigh*

:( thats how i feel right now  :(

i wish i was working towards a major where my ultimate job will be something stable and not wishy washy like psych, esp. when i already know that i do not want to become a psychologist in the end..take pre med or pre law for example; these people are going to end up as our future doctors and lawyers, but with psych it's kinda like they give you a degree (well of course, you earn it), but then you have to go out and find that job that is social science related; the job doesnt come to you, like how doctors are always in need and once out of med school they will always have a direction to go-either working in a hospital or starting their own practice..idk if im making any sense at all, but i dont care. arrr..*sigh* that's what has been boggling my mind for a while...im looking more into business these days-like the marketing or advertising side of business, but idk..at this point i feel like this is my 5th or 6th pre-life crisis...is this even healthy for me? who knows..who cares. blah! whats going on.

to digress, sometimes i wish i was more action-oriented instead of a passionate individual..that is just one  of the many flaws that i should relly try fixing before i graduate. It is not a good characteristic to possess esp. out in the work force.

Note to self: be more agressive! get what you want in life! get what you deserve! You live once. In life, dont regret the things that you could have gotten but didnt have the courage to get @ the time. You may not like the process but the end result may be worthwhile!

*wow, easier said than done...sometimes i feel like im all talk and no show...bleh whatever...i just feel emo today..who doesnt have their extraordinary emotional days?

my tentative schedule for spring 2007:
Psych 160
EPS 3
English R1B
IB 31
Public health 116
***and possibly psych 150 [and drop IB 31]...except for im only # 149 on the waitlist. *sigh*

on a lighter note,TAIWAN was sooooo much fun!!! the FOOD..oh my god..i can only marvel at how taiwanese women stay so thin-like anorexica thin too...im a XL in jeans over there! its rather depressing. You know how they say disneyland is the happiest place to be? well for me that place is taiwan..its one of those places where you just have to visit to understand why people of all ages find great enjoyment in a trip to taiwan and why it is so addicting. Not to mention the shopping is, simply put,  QUALITY!  Not only are the clothes (at night markjets, not malls like SOGO) affordable, they are one step forward in  fashion! their fashion is so classy  and  stylish. i came home every night with at least 1or more purchased good :) i was satisfied :) The family there...what can i say? my extended family has got to be one of my favorite things in my life. Even though we only see on e naother maybe once every 3 or4  years, family is family, and you can feel that bond between you and a cousin or an aunt and mostly a GRANDMA!! (wai po!!!)  My only regret is that i could see them more often than what is the case now. My cousin named her daughter after me!! how flattering is that...her name is venus, and all my relatives call her little venus. She explained to me that the reason why she decided to name her venus was because wen i was younger (about 5 or 6) she came to live with my family in America for half a year or so and she felt that i was something special to her. [utterly touching, right? :)]

I loved going to different night markets at least twice a week, visiting the different tourist attraction sights of taiwan, eating out every meal of every day..but i must say, breakfast was always the best!, gaining weight: this is the only exception i will make with my weight gain because every pound was undoubtedly worth the palatable food. All the little shops were so amazing, esp at Xi Mun Ding and Taipei 101. I bought too many little fun gadgets, like hello kitty keychains, earrings, camera case, shoes, and purses.

so here are some highlights if my trip:
-New Year's Eve: my first time "clubbing" in taiwan at Champagne 3 (C3)
-fireworks at Taipei 101 on new years eve
-way overpriced studio pics, but worth it nonetheless :) [they pamper you so so much! i felt like a celebrity for the day: they did my makeup which took 45 minutes, my hair, i tried on about 10 or 11 outfits, including dresses that were featured in some fashion magazine in taiwan, and they gave me a manicure, free, unlimited food and drinks, and a photo shoot that lasted 3 hours OMG 3 hours!! how do celebrities even handle that?! but ultimately, the ictures turned out perfect (as studio pics always do since they airbrush them like celebrity magazines). i cant wait to receive my photo album they call it "magazine" since they bind it in a way whre it seems like you were featured in some fashion magazine. It will be mailed to me in late Jan...andddd i also took mother daughter shots with my mother...she looked AMAZING...my mother is beautiful. :)
- my hair!!!! i got it chemically straightened!! which means it should last for about 6 months..its so much more manageable now..i love it
-so this is actually pretty unexpected, but i got compared to Jolin Tsai!! A couple people (family, people at the club, and some guys from KTV) had mentioned to me that i resemble her a bit....i think i am out of her leauge and that they were all bluffing and felt compelled to make the matching last name connection with the actual person. but it was flattering, nonetheless! :D
-hearing Jay chou & Jolin Tsai in EVERY single store! omg it was so great..that never happens in America....well obviously it doesnt  haha what am i thinking..but it just made me so proud to know that even though i dont live there & dont even visit often enough, im still attentive & appreciative to the pop culture there
-meeting all my cousins children...you know those lilttle kids you always see in family albums but have never relly even met....im sure everyone has family like that
-tutoring!! i tutored a 24 yr old who is applying to a college in England and he needed help with ideas and editing of his thesis paper and the projects that it entails...i felt sooooooooooooooooo productive!!
-being introduced to and developing a mild obsession with the world of sticky pics :D
-experiencing my FIRST earthquake..OMG I MUST go into detial with this one..i was at a thai restaurant with jason (one of my fav berkeley friends) and his mom...we were just eating our hearts out when suddenly, his mom says, OMG i jsut felt an earthquake....1 minute later.."OMG i just felt another noe, do you gusy feel it too?" then we look around and everyone in the restaurant is getting pretty terrified except for the waiter....turns out he was oblivious that techtonic plates were even moving!! wow..hes crazy not to have felt it..so thats the stroy of my first earthquake. :}
-experiencing the convenience of the MRT (bart of taiwan), motorcycles, and taxis...transportation in taiwan is nothing like in the U.S.of A. Here if you dont have a car, or good friends who does, consider yourself a prisoner of your own home.
-getting sick...and remaining very sick for most of my precious time there..but you can bet that did not stop me from enjoying everything that taiwan has to offer
-getting new glasses !! so much cheaper there than here.
-receiving a LV purse as a gift...wow...i am SO not interested in those name brand purses except for coach...but i like my LV purse, i just dunno when i would ever use it? its just Not very venus-like
-meeting my mom's HIGH SCHOOL FRIENDS...HIGH SCHOOL!!!

soo these are just a glimpse into what i have been up to the past 20 days in taiwan...i am looking forward to round 2 sometime soon hopefully. but right now, i am a jetlagged little puppy, who wakes up at 3 am and sleeps at 12 noon..The time zones never ceases to manipulate  my sleep cycle.

AND..school is starting...my 4th semester at berkeley..3 down, 5 more to go...Yippy

Oh my...Oh my...i can't believe it's only 2 weeks into summer..with summer school & all, it really feels like an eternity has passed!! whewww!! So i'm taking this really intense and by REALLY i mean...THINK: 18 weeks of Poli Sci lecture crammed into a short 3 wk summer intersession course..meaning 4 times a wk, 4.5 hours each day! yes...that's what i mean by REALLY intense! wow, i cant even believe how im still in that class??? aren't i supposed to be burned out by now and wanting to drop the course 2 hours into it?? haha..well, to be honest, i kinda like that class...okay, im under exagerating..I FREAKING LOVE THAT CLASS..oh my goodness, what's ahppening to me?? I never thought i would be saying those 5 words in my college lifetime!!! But seriously, the professor graduated with a POli Sci degree from Berkeley so he's got credibilty..not only that, he's got a way with words..he can make the most boring materials into a creative, interseting short narrative. I relly do love his teaching tactics. For every issue he presents, he gives a real life, understandable example to substantiate his claim. I LOVE IT!!! & through this class i realized that my deeply engrained despise for the academics aspect of college (ok fine i dont hate it all, just at times i relly hate learning lol but who doesn't)  is due to lack of professor ability to stimulate the material being taught!!!! The material itself is not boring; for some reasons professors at berkeley make lectures so dry and so boring! (well at least the ones ive had). With this professor, he is amazing! And seriously when i claim a professor is amazing, wow...that must be something, cuz usually i dont give a damn..as long as i get my A im happy. Like this guy...idk how else to put it, but he simply knows how to teach and how to turn words into highly anticipated bedtime story..and when i say bedtime story, i mean it literally..my class is a night class....5 to 9:30!!!! hahaha..So i pretty much have been enjoying my summer because of this..but it's ending soon...a wk and a half soon...but right after i am taking a history course at another CC...bleh! i just hope im fortunate enough to get another "AMAZING" professor..

Some interesting things ive learned thus far in Poli Sci 1:
*out of 300 million Americans, only 45 million vote! (thats ridiculous..go VOTE!!!)
*when Washington remarried, it was his first wife's youngeer sister, and even worse...they had 6 kids!!
*contrary to popular belief, America IS NOT a democratic nation...we are a representative democracy!
*  House of Rep. are the only govt officials elected throguh direct election ( meaning 'we the people" directly elect them into position)
*the US Constitution is only 7,000 words long!!!

OKay enough blogging..i have to study for my 2nd midterm tomorroww!! one and a half wks into class and weve had 2 already!! (including the one tomorrow!!) its crazzzzzzzzyyy...and on the last wk  (next wk) we have 1 mdterm on monday..and the final exam on thursday!!!!!!)

HEAVEN HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! & KK if youre reading this, that was for you!!! love you & miss you!
